Baord Meeting Recap – June 24th

We started tonight with a wonderful reception for out going Board Member Kim Van Hoek. Tonight’s meeting marked the end of the current phase of Ms. Van Hoek’s 35 year involvement with Saline Area Schools. Her next venture is onto the Board of Trustees for the Saline Area School Foundation. Kim has proved to be a wonderful and valuable asset to Saline – THANK YOU.
It was great to see her wonderful daughter’s Emily and Elizabeth and her husband John at the reception.
The board meeting also included a presentation by Mr. Brad Bezeau regarding the Saline “Alive” Committee. This group has developed recommendations for several updates to our student handbook and possibly our policy manual with regard to mental health issues.
Mr. Ken Lupo, our new Director of Technology (he has been our System Administrator for 3 years), presented a quick tutorial to the board about accessing their new gmail accounts.
There was a lively discussion, led by Board President Lisa Slawson, regarding the process for goal setting for the 2008-2009 school year.
We proceeded to appoint Plante Moran as our auditors for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. We then approved starting all regular board meetings at 6:30pm starting with the next meeting on July 8th.
