A life well spent….

November 9, 2011

On Monday, the Saline Area Schools family and the entire Saline community lost a special member.  Long time Saline Area Schools teacher Sheila Truchan passed away.  It was far too soon… As I think about the day to day challenges we face and how we worry about the little things… I remember how Sheila always dealt with these challenges with a smile….

She arrived in Saline in August, 1978… and never left.  Along the way she left a lasting legacy with her students, fellow staff and all of the families she touched along the way….

Sheila Truchan was the best elementary teacher my son, Dominic has encountered in Saline Schools. She was his third grade teacher and she made that year truly exceptional for him. She had a laid-back, firm classroom managment style. Most importantly, she made him feel valuable, and comfortable and was instrumental in a very successful year for him. Dominic took joy in seeing her in the halls for all the years he was at Harvest so that he could visit with her and share whatever he was doing at the time. Mrs. Truchan was the epitome of a great teacher. She understood her students and they loved being in her classroom. She will be greatly missed. Our condolences to her family.

I am so saddened to hear this. My prayers and thoughts go out to the Saline community. I was fortunate to work with Sheila at Pleasant Ridge where, I agree with Scot, she greeted every challenge with a smile. She will be greatly missed!
